Problem
A UK customer in the Metal, Steel and Aluminium industry was having an issue with the hoses on its Crust Breaker. These were failing prematurely (after only two weeks) due to a combination of friction and excessive heat.for this – meaning that the motor was constantly running at maximum speed and power.
Solution
Brammer proposed using Parker’s Super Tough hoses with heat resistant coverings – including a red silicone covering rated to 230°C and a glass fibre cover to provide insulation rated to 960°C – in order to solve the problem. Furthermore, as high pressure hydraulic hoses are hoses are non- standard, Brammer held a consignment stock, which enabled the changeover time to be reduced.
Result
Overall, these new hoses created savings of €10,000 through extending the life of the product and €3,000 in maintenance reduction – amounting to €13,000 of cost savings for the customer.
